Education Project

Welcome to:

2018 was an extremely busy year for the Credit Bureau Association ("CBA") as together with the National Credit Regulator ("the NCR"), we piloted our Education project, reaching 57 schools in Gauteng over a period of 6 months (April to September 2018). We partnered with hdi Youth Marketeers who provided the industrial theatre production and planning for the Education project.
Thank you to Compuscan, Consumer Profile Bureau, Experian, TransUnion and Xpert Decision Systems ("the credit bureaus") who participated in the project and provided one of their senior members of staff to provide an introduction on credit bureaus, and also provided additional staff to assist with the narrative and provide credit reports to teachers.

In addition to the industrial theatre production, learners were given an in-depth look at what a credit report looks like and they were told how to use credit wisely as they move into the working world. Each learner was provided with the booklet below, printed in both English and a vernacular language that they could take home to their parents, to provide further information on credit bureaus.

During the course of the Education project, Selina and Alison took part in several radio and TV interviews on credit bureaus and the education initiative of 2018.

The 2018 Education project was a resounding success with learners continuously asking for the CBA to return to their schools to provide further education, even outside of school hours. Please see the photos on the right, and click on the link to access some of the videos created during our project:

As a result of the success of the programme, the CBA has decided to continue the Education project in 2019, taking the industrial theatre programme to schools in the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal. We will also target 5 universities throughout South Africa, where we will provide education on credit bureaus, free credit reports and an education prize for students.
